Lactiplantibacillus plantarum is a beneficial bacterium found in natural environments, plant materials, the gastrointestinal tracts of humans and animals, and human saliva. It is widely used in fermented foods, animal feed, environmental protectants, and therapeutic health products for human use.
Lactiplantibacillus plantarum ZJUF T34 was isolated from traditional Chinese sourdough. This strain produces a highly potent form of glutamine synthetase (GS) rather than synthesizing glutamine directly. The internally produced GS has superior bioavailability, is unaffected by gastric or bile salt pressures, and offers improved benefits for muscle synthesis, weight management, immune boosting, and overall health.
Body Weight Modulation: Administration of T34 was associated with reduced body weight gain in mice fed a GML-supplemented diet, suggesting its potential role in weight management.
Improvement of Serum Lipid Profiles: T34 significantly lowered low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) levels and improved the HDL-C/LDL-C ratio compared to the GML group, indicating a positive effect on lipid metabolism.
Gut Microbiota Modulation: T34 positively influenced the composition and diversity of gut microbiota, promoting an increase in beneficial bacterial genera and supporting gut health.
Anti-inflammatory Effects: While T34 did not significantly change pro-inflammatory cytokine levels, it did not exacerbate inflammation, suggesting a neutral or protective effect against inflammation induced by GML.
