2. SELECTION AND TAXONOMY
Lactobacillus plantarum Lp-G18 was isolated from naturally fermented yogurt in the Ili region of Xinjiang, China. Lactobacillus plantarum Lp-G18 produces high strength glutamine synthetase, rather than the synthesized glutamine, this inner produced GS has much better bioavailability and will not suffer other gastric or
bile salt pressure, have much better body feeling and health functions, like the muscle synthesis, weight management, immunity boost etc.

This strain has undergone a series of evaluations through the probiotic evaluation system and has been identified by the Institute of Microbiology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, based on 16s-rRNA gene sequencing. It belongs to the subspecies Lactobacillus plantarum Lp-G18 and is preserved in the China Center for Type Culture Collection with the
accession number CCTCC.M. 2013690.

(3) Patent Abstract: This invention relates to the technology of active fermentation of biological strains, specifically a high-enzyme activity fermentation method for plant Lactobacillus GS. The
method includes:
. Inoculating the plant Lactobacillus strain into a basic culture medium, activating the seed culture medium;
. Inoculating the activated seed culture medium into another basic culture medium and a fermentation culture medium to obtain a well-fermented bacterial solution;
. Collecting the bacterial solution, centrifuging it using a cold centrifuge, emulsifying the centrifuged bacterial sludge, and vacuum freeze-drying to obtain bacterial powder;
. Dissolving the bacterial powder in deionized water, centrifuging after resuspension, repeating twice to obtain washed bacteria;
. Breaking and centrifuging the washed bacteria, taking the supernatant, and determining the activity of glutamine synthetase. The enzyme activity in this invention is increased by more than 30%, while greatly shortening the fermentation time.
