1. CHARACTERISTICS OF THE SPECIES
Lactobacillus reuteri is a Gram-positive bacterium that naturally inhabits the gut of mammals and birds. It can also be found in natural environments such as fermented foods, meat, and dairy products. It is a capable of growing in both aerobic and anaerobic conditions, with better growth in aerobic conditions. Additionally, it can survive in environments with nitrogen dioxide. Lactobacillus reuteri can metabolize monosaccharides but cannot digest or utilize lactose.

2. SELECTION AND TAXONOMY
Lactobacillus reuteri LR-G100 is extracted from naturally fermented sour milk in the Caucasus region. It is an antiallergenic and anti-pathogenic lactic acid bacterium.
