LF-G89 powder is a probiotic additive, containing the Lactobacillus fermentum LF-G89 and a special cryoprotectant agent. The Lactobacillus fermentum LF-G89 is gram-positive, and often found in the gastrointestinal tract, mouth and vagina of mammals including humans. It helps the promotion of good digestive activity, reduction in respiratory illnesses and urogenital infection in females. Lactobacillus fermentum is considered to be a hardy bacteria which is able to survive in low pH balance environments like the human GI tract. It also has a reputation for reducing cholesterol levels.

Genus: Lactobacillus
Species: Lactobacillus fermentum
Lactobacillus fermentum is a Gram-positive species of bacterium in the genus Lactobacillus. It is associated with active dental caries lesions. It is also commonly found in fermenting animal and plant material. It has been found in sourdough. A few strains are considered probiotic or "friendly" bacteria in animals and some Lactobacillus fermentum has been applied to treat urogenital infections in women.
Lactobacillus fermentum has strong surviving ability in the gastroc-acid (low pH value) as well in the bile salt, enzyme digestion pressure. It is commonly found in fermented food products and is considered a GRAS organism by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA). In vivo studies indicate that some Lactobacillus fermentum strains have beneficial properties, particularly in relation to gastrointestinal health. It also has been found that some strains for Lactobacillus fermentum have natural resistances to certain antibiotics and chemotherapeutics. Lactobacillus fermentum can also be a normal inhabitant of the human intestinal tract and some strains have been associated with cholesterol metabolism.
